Sports physiotherapy supports athletes from rehabilitation after injury through to their return to training and competition.
The rehabilitation process aims to restore mobility, strength, load capacity and performance through a progression tailored to the demands of the specific sport. Functional tests and objective measurements help assess progress and guide the return to sport more precisely.
The goal is to return to sport in the best possible condition, reducing the risk of recurrence and restoring confidence and performance.
Specific Rehabilitation for Competitive Athletes
Sports physiotherapy addresses common sports-related conditions and injuries such as muscle injuries, sprains, tendinopathies, joint injuries and rehabilitation after surgery.
The rehabilitation process aims to progressively restore mobility, strength and the ability to tolerate the specific demands of the athlete’s sport.
Rehabilitation is gradually adapted to the demands of the sport, progressing from basic exercises to strength training, running, jumping, changes of direction and sport-specific movements.
Treatment: Targeted and personalised rehabilitation using the gym and swimming pool, combined with physical and manual therapy sessions.
Back to Sport
Returning to sport is not simply a matter of waiting a few weeks or months after an injury. Before resuming training and competition, it is important to assess whether strength, function and load capacity have been adequately restored.
Through strength testing and functional tests, we objectively assess recovery and use the results to guide the progression towards return to sport.
Treatment: Bodyweight tests are carried out to evaluate strength, speed, and load tolerance in the injured area. The ability to return to sporting activity is evaluated based on predefined levels and values.
Functional Assessment and Performance
Functional assessment allows us to analyse strength, mobility, balance, coordination and movement quality in relation to the demands of the athlete’s sport.
We use specific tests and objective measurements, such as the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and force plates, to assess movement patterns, asymmetries and the athlete’s physical capabilities.
The results help identify the areas that need improvement and guide targeted exercises to enhance performance and support the return to sport.
Treatment: Bodyweight exercises involving predefined movements are performed. By observing these movements, difficulties in mobility, coordination, balance, stability and strength can be identified.
